Here's a little about Chris:
1. When did you become an X-Phile?
In the 1990s I lived in an artist colony in Oakland called The Vulcan Foundry Studios. We had no cable in the building and on Sundays we would all assemble around the TVs that could get broadcast and we watched The X-Files like church every Sunday night.
2. What is the first episode you watched?
"Pilot" got me right from the beginning. Actually a lot of people around the art community sitting there argued over Carter's lighting choices. I love film noir and it was evident from the start that he was trying to capture a "night" feel and really lead the focus of the viewers with strong choices of lighting and contrasting and backlit sets as they did in the black and white days of film.
3. What are you looking forward to seeing in the revival?
Well my greatest hope is that they will stay with a strong story arch. My great conflict was that when they had these one-offs, it lost the great story arch of the global conspiracy.
4. What inspired you to draw X-Files?
Well really it was the show coming back. I still watch the DVDs so it's like getting my show back. A few shows have tried but Mulder and Scully have chemistry and a dynamic that is familiar and sometimes that is fantastic.
5. Who is your favorite character?
Cigarette Smoking Man. He is like the backstory behind the backstory.
6. List your top 5 episodes.
"Anasazi', "Deep Throat" -----hmmm... "Duanae Barry", "Colony"(yes)... "Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man". That one might be my favorite.
7. Favorite X-Files quote.
"I would never lie. I willfully participated in a campaign of misinformation."- Mulder
8. How has The X-Files impacted your life?
Well as an artist, my lighting and subject matter. It has inspired me so much. My poor wife. That is all I can say; she may have to endure many more seasons. "That's fine, honey..."
