Halloween is over and the stores have prematurely packed their aisles with Christmas decorations. But before you start warding off the ghosts from stealing the holidays, we have to wrap up the 5th Annual XFN Pumpkin Carving Contest.

What started several years ago with a few entries has become a collection of dozens of submissions per year. Honestly, we just wanted an excuse to carve an X-Files pumpkin, and what a great excuse it has been. Frank Spotnitz, Annabeth Gish, Gillian Anderson, and finally Chris Carter have all been our pumpkin judges.

This year the god of the X-Files universe has spoken. Chris Carter looked over the entries to our contest and picked some of his favorites. This year's winner is:

Carved by Hannah, this pumpkin's creator will be getting a special shipment of X-Files goodies coming in the mail soon!

Our runners up are:

This pumpkin was carved by XFN's own Managing Editor Roileigh Ollson who receives special thanks for making Chris Carter laugh.

This FTF-inspired runner up was carved by Nicole.

350

This "Bad Blood" inspired pumpkin was from Kate.

And Nadine carved our last runner up.

Halloween may be over, but in less than a year we will be back with our 6th installment of the spookiest contest we run. Start thinking up designs for next year because you can never have too much X-Files in your life.

That's right. The judge for the 5th Annual XFN Pumpkin Carving Contest is no other than the creator of all things spooky, Mr. Chris Carter!

We know that you're already sharpening tools and picking the best design for your masterpiece; we think this will definitely motivate you even more.

Remember, the deadline for entries is on October 31st, 2014 - 6PM EST.

It's Spooky Mulder's favorite time of year! (At least it is in our head cannon.) With Halloween just around the corner, it's time to kick off the 5th Annual XFN Pumpkin Carving Contest! We do it every year because why wouldn't you want to carve an X-Files pumpkin?

Carve us a masterpiece, and we may send you some cool XF goodies to cram onto that shelf with all the other X-Files stuff you have no room for.

We understand; you're alllll a-tingle, but before you get carried away, here are the rules of our contest:

  • Your pumpkin must feature The X-Files in some way. But you already figured that one out because that's why they put the I in FBI.
  • You must send a photo of your pumpkin to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by October 31st at 9pm ET.
  • You can submit a pumpkin that you didn't carve for the contest, but not one you've submitted before.
  • Only one entry per Phile.

So how does the judging of this contest work? Well we always feature a special guest judge. Who is this year's? For now, the Truth will remain out there, so stay tuned for our announcement.

Until then though, start thinking of creative pumpkin ideas. Browse through the entires from 2011, 2012, and 2013 for inspiration if needed. Most importantly though, don't forget that the Truth is probably inside that pumpkin you saw for sale in that giant bin outside the store. If you want to believe, you're going to have to crack it open.

Last month we announced several different contests to celebrate the release of Gillian Anderson's first novel, A Vision of Fire. Now that the book has hit stores and the chaos of New York Comic Con is over, we're ready to hand out those books to the winners!

Each contest has five winners who we'll be sending a copy of A Vision of Fire, and one winner from each round will also be getting a poster of the book jacket.

Click read more to see all the winners and their very creative responses.
