Today is October 13th and we're also right in the middle of the *spookiest* time of the year as well. This is a special month for us at XFN; not only do Chris Carter and Fox Mulder celebrate their Birthdays but also is our 7th Anniversary month!
We know you're used to our traditional Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest and we won't disappoint. Details on that are coming soon, but we also wanted to announce a few new things coming our way!
X-Files Halloween Marathon
On October 31st, 2014 we will hold a spooky-themed marathon. Join us on twitter as we share our insights about some of the scariest episodes of the show. Tweet, participate and have a jolly good time with us! More details to come.
Millennium Marathon
This is one of our new activities! Sophie Brown and Keva Andersen host the kick off of our Millennium rewatch with a marathon on November 30th, 2014, in preparation for the upcoming release of the Millennium miniseries by IDW Publishing. We will join them as we watch the first episodes of the show that brought us Frank Black. Stay tuned for more details!
Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest
You know it! Another year, another chance to show us your skills! Whether you go for the minimalistic jack-o-lantern or create intricate carving designs, we want to see your X-Files inspired pumpkins! Winner will be picked by a judge yet to be announced and he or she will take home a combo of X-Files goodies. Stay tuned for an announcement on this very soon.
But that's not all!
In the following months we will be adding new sections and activities to our website, social media sites and forums, including a thorough review of The X-Files comics released by Topps in the 90's. Sophie Brown, our newest staff member, will be revisiting the editions and bringing us her especialized analysis and commentary.
In addition, we will be hosting more rewatches of other Ten Thirteen properties, a new and revamped X-Files Book Club, new featured stories and interviews, along with the usual coverage of all things X-Files that you're accustumed to! Expect new faces joining our ranks that will make our XFN family even bigger!
So sit tight and hop on for a ride.
Last month we announced several different contests to celebrate the release of Gillian Anderson's first novel, A Vision of Fire. Now that the book has hit stores and the chaos of New York Comic Con is over, we're ready to hand out those books to the winners!
Each contest has five winners who we'll be sending a copy of A Vision of Fire, and one winner from each round will also be getting a poster of the book jacket.
Click read more to see all the winners and their very creative responses.
Joe Harris, The X-Files: Season 10 comic author, had some exciting news for us all at New York Comic Con 2014! On top of the already amazing work they're doing on Season 10, IDW Publishing will be releasing a short series of Millennium comics.
Profiler Frank Black will return in the new comics that take place during the same timeframe as the current X-Files ones. Frank will appear in the next issue of the "Immaculate" Season 10 two-parter, which will allow him to spinoff into his own series come New Years. Mulder and possibly other X-Files favorites will be helping Frank out. We will even learn more about Monte Propps, the case that started Mulder off in the BSU.
There's a lot of awesome stuff coming up from Joe and the IDW crew, so check out the interview below to learn more. And if you still have questions, we'll have some exclusive info on the comics coming soon!
