Frank Spotnitz's indie Big Light Productions has appointed former Holby City and Down To Earth producer Sharon Remmer as its head of drama.
Remmer's most recent role was head of development at Moone Boy producer Sprout Pictures, the indie set up by Stephen Fry.
She will fill the newly created position and be tasked with developing Big Light's drama slate with the aim of working with UK and US broadcasters.
Remmer said she joined the indie because of Spotnitz "clear vision and unrivaled ambition" while Spotnitz lauded her "deep knowledge, love and respect for talent". Big Light was set up by former X-Files showrunner Spotnitz and is focused on developing high quality returning drama series.
In April it announced that it was working on a co-production with Downton Abbey producer Carnival Films for crime series Freud: The Secret Casebook.
The London-based company also made series two of Transporter: The Series for M6, HBO Canada and TNT.
Spotnitz wrote and created Hunted for BBC1 and Cinemax.
In July, production network Greenbird acquired a minority stake in Big Light, thought to be around 30%. The company also entered into a first-look distribution deal with Studio Canal unit Tandem Communications in April.
