This week’s chosen artist is Josaid Bracho from Venezuela. Josaid is the person behind the rewatch posters that you see floating around on Twitter. You can check out her work through her Tumblr, DeviantArt and Twitter.
Here's a little about Josaid:
1. When did you become an X-Phile?
I think it was between 1993 and 1994. I was lucky enough to have a special access to a TV signal that belonged to some company (not illegally, just lucky >.<), and as an eleven-year-old girl, I just watched a LOT of TV. I fell in love with the series since the first time I watched an episode, even being a native Spanish speaker and not able to understand anything. Nothing, not even a word of what they were saying. I started recording on VHS, and activating the closed caption I started writing down the dialogues and using a dictionary. I learned a lot thanks to The X-Files. Sometimes when my parents asked me about being able to understand what I was watching, I used to say “I was born to see this” but in Spanish XD.
2. What is the first episode you watched?
To be honest, I truly don't remember which one, sometimes my memory tricks me showing flashbacks of the Pilot XD; but I'm not sure, let’s say it's an episode from the first three seasons. I have a "funny" story about the time I had no satellite TV or cable, I thought that the 3rd season finale was THE END, I mean that X-Files only had three seasons and I started to rewatch my VHS tapes all over again, but by the end of 1998 when I came out of my hole and rediscovered the world I felt so blessed that there were more X-Files episodes and even a MOVIE! I became the happiest person in the universe.
3. What are you looking forward to seeing in the revival?
Sex!... No wait sorry; I'm a red bone shipper and I'll be glad with Mulder and Scully loving each other even if the world is falling apart; but I guess we'll have a lot of angst. I hope to see William, Scully deserves to be a mother so much, she loves like a mother and needs her son! I'm also a lover of the mythology arc, the conspiracy, the colonization! How did we survived the invasion? I want to know! And monsters for sure! I don't want to sound like a conformist, but I’ll sure be glad to have them together and solving those cases!
4. What inspired you to draw X-Files?
Mulder and Scully are just too awesome! When the Global Rewatch was announced I started believing once again; I told myself that being excited about a project means to get involved and decided that I was gonna compose a collage for each episode as a "promo art" and even when I run out of ideas sometimes, I just love to do something about X-Files. I have to keep going!
5. Who is your favorite character?
Mulder most of the time. Sometimes it is Scully; I love them both and together! But if I have to pick one, it’s Mulder. Except in I Want to Believe. I HATE him in I Want to Believe U_____U.
6. List your top 5 episodes.
I can list 5 for each season hahahaha! It's so difficult to choose that I could mention the top 5 episodes I hate and the other 197 that are my favorites >.<
But in no particular order: Syzygy, The Rain King, Home, Rush, Millennium.
7. Favorite X-Files quote.
Scully: I don't know what to believe anymore. Mulder, I was so determined to find a cure to save you that I could deny what it was that I saw and now I don't even know... I don't know... I don't know what the truth is... I don't know who to listen to. I don't know who to trust. Diana Fowley was found murdered this morning. I never trusted her... but she helped save your life just as much as I did. She gave me that book. It was her key that led me to you. I'm sorry... I'm so sorry. I know she was your friend.
Mulder: Scully, I was like you once. I didn't know who to trust. Then I... I chose another path... another life, another fate, where I found my sister. The end of my world was unrecognizable and upside down. There was one thing that remained the same. You... were my friend, and you told me the truth. Even when the world was falling apart, you were my constant... my touchstone.
Scully: And you are mine.
8. How has The X-Files impacted your life?
Something that I don't share everyday is that my parents were my X-Files buddies. They were worried about their girl watching TV until late at night, so they started watching with me as soon as we got the episodes in Spanish. They never freaked out about those weird things, and my dad used to say: "but they end up together right?” And today you can ask them about their daughter’s great love and they will not only talk about Mulder, but also David Duchovny. I drove them crazy with my fangirl mode. >.< I believe in love because of The X-Files, don't ask me how but I do. After all, I grew up with the greatest love story of all times! I've met the most amazing people around the world, I love them with my heart and hope they know. There is nothing that is not positive about X-Files. Oh well maybe that I don't sleep, don't eat well, don't pay attention to work since the revival was announced, but that's all.
