X-Files News had the pleasure to talk to Carlos Valenzuela, one of the artists commissioned to draw the newest installment of The X-Files comic books.
Valenzuela, a professional illustrator and comic book artist from Chile, has worked for several companies in the entertainment industry, like Fantasy Flight Games, Pyranha Bytes, SQP Publishing, Under The Floorboards, Ballistic Publishing, IDW Ltd, just to name a few.
XFN: How did you get into the business of illustrating?
"I always wanted to enter the world of illustration. My artistic influences are mainly from classic illustrators like Frazetta, Corben, Wrightson, Moebius, Elvgren, etc. and thanks to some online communities like DeviantArt or CGSociety I was able to show my first works. Also, I work for a couple of years being represented by an US agency. With them I did almost illustration work, from book covers, card games, to posters and comic book covers.
Right now, I work mainly as an illustrator, but with some comic book works from time to time, like the upcoming Mars Attacks story from IDW."
The weather might not feel like Spring yet, but it has sure arrived with the beginning of "Con" season. Calgary Expo is only a couple of days away, and XFN has been officially accredited to report live from the convention. This expo will take place over the weekend, April 26-28th in Calgary, AB at the BMO Centre.
If you are attending, prepare yourself for a great time because this is one of the biggest X-Files reunion in the past couple of years. Gillian Anderson, Robert Patrick, Mitch Pileggi, Mark Sheppard, and Cary Elwes are all in attendance. However, if you are unable to attend, fear no more because XFN's very own Jeremy Schoff and Matthew Nygren will be there all weekend to report live on all things X-Files.
Hot off the early morning presses in the U.S. but Netflix has officially closed the deal to acquire U.S. rights to Gillian Anderson's new BBC Two series, The Fall.
The deal was struck with Content Film & Television and is part of Netflix's new offering of both original and acquired series. While an official date has not been set for the U.S. airing of The Fall, TV Wise reports that it will be closely behind the series premiere on BBC Two this May.
More details as we get them!
