Starz has announced that Gillian Anderson has joined Bryan Fuller's new series American Gods, an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's novel. This is a reunion for Gillian and Bryan Fuller, they previously collaborated on NBC's Hannibal. Gillian will be playing Media in the series, a character Variety describes as "the mouthpiece for the New Gods, functioning as their public face and sales representative, by taking the form of various iconic celebrities. She lives off the attention and worship that people give to screens — to their laptops, their TVs, to their iPhones in their hands while they watch their TVs. Ever the perky spokesperson, and always in control, she spins stories in whatever direction best suits her."
Gillian responded to the announcement on Twitter, saying she's excited to work with Neil Gaiman and Bryan Fuller, among others.
It's true! @AmericanGodsSTZ Excited to work with @neilhimself @BryanFuller @andmichaelgreen @FMNATV #AmericanGods

The Truth is Still Out There but Philes are going to wait a little longer for the next installment of The X-Files. According to TVLine, FOX CEO Dana Walden says there have been "conversations" with Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, and creator Chris Carter about doing more episodes. All three are reportedly "on board to do another installment," it's just a matter of scheduling. So while The X-Files won't be on the schedule for the 2016-17 TV season, FOX executives are hopeful that at this time next year they'll have an announcement to make. So that means Season 11 won't hit our TV screens until Fall 2017 or Spring 2018 at the earliest.
In February, we asked Chris Carter what a possible Season 11 would look like and this is what he had to say: "It looks like we need to figure out what happens after that moment on the bridge. What is that? An ARV? A UFO? Is that Alien or Man at the wheel? Someone suggested it was William at the wheel and I thought that was kind of funny.” He laughs. “You know, he would appear on cue. I think is an exciting place to come back to, don’t you think?" We also asked if there were any "must-haves" on his list for Season 11 and he said, "For David and Gillian being able to work at the same time for a good run so that we can come up with great material, so basically time, money and enthusiasm."
While we may have a wait on our hands, we know this fandom knows how to be patient. What are you doing to make the wait for Season 11 go by faster? Are you writing fic, creating art, editing fanvids? Let us know in the comments or share with us on Twitter or Facebook.

Now is your chance to own some great art from some of your favorite celebrities, including The X-Files cast and crew, and raise money for a good cause. The annual Doodle 4 NF auction starts today. Every year, autographed doodles are collected and the proceeds go to support the Neurofibromatosis Network. NF is a disease that causes tumors to grow on nerves and can lead to paralysis, deafness, blindness, cancer, or even death. Research continues but right now there is no known cure for NF. You can learn more about what the NF Network does here. As you may know, Gillian Anderson lost her brother to NF in 2011 so this is a cause very close to her heart. The first round of bidding starts today, May 5, and continues through May 15th. A second round of doodles go up for bid May 6 and continues through May 16. Head over to ebay and check out this year's art. For a full list of participating celebrities continue reading after the jump.
